Lejía Lagoon y Lascar Base
We get up early to begin one of our favorite routes in all of Atacama, a circuit that many tourism experts consider, without a doubt, the best of all tours. Our first stop brings us to the hospitality of the community of Talabre, a starting point full of local culture. From here, we'll share the road with mountaineers beginning their ascent of the imposing Lascar Volcano, the most active in the Atacama Desert and one of the morning's great protagonists, giving us the unique chance to watch its morning fumarole in full splendor. After climbing through a pristine and majestic altiplano, we reach 4,300 meters of altitude to meet Laguna Lejía. Surrounded by colossal volcanoes, this mirror of water usually rewards us with perfect scenes and reflections that are hard to beat. Here we'll enjoy one of the best breakfasts in San Pedro, before continuing to the Aguas Calientes Salt Flat, a peaceful place, full of wildlife and a tranquility so deep it's hard to put into words. It's here that you'll feel your trip to Atacama was not only worth it, but will change your perception of altiplanic nature forever. Then, we'll head toward an imposing and unusual geological feature hidden in the middle of the altiplano, a little-explored corner that impresses with its scale. Between geological surprises and an entertaining 4x4 drive — where the total solitude of the desert will be what captivates you most — we begin the descent to enjoy a well-deserved lunch and close a truly unforgettable day.
