Lejía Lagoon + Aguas Calientes Salt Flat + Overo Crater

Our full-day alternative route, for those who want to go beyond the classics. We climb through the Tumbres ravine to Lejía Lagoon, a brackish lake surrounded by volcanoes (Lascar, Aguas Calientes, Acamarachi) and home to Andean flamingos. We continue to the Aguas Calientes Salt Flat, almost unknown on the tourist circuit, and close at the Overo Crater, an imposing volcanic caldera. Demanding day due to altitude (4,300m), recommended only with prior acclimatization.
